Rathalla Review strives to publish the finest fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and art. Our aim is to find work that is vulnerable and honest, universal yet personal, and sharply written. Our staff, comprised of MFA in Creative Writing and MA in Publishing candidates, merges the creative arts and the business of publishing into a shared voice and vision.
We accept nonfiction essays and fiction stories up to 4,000 words, as well as flash nonfiction and fiction (up to 1,000 words). We accept poems that are no more than 3 pages.
Our reading period is from Aug 15th through Oct 16th, and January 1st through March 15th. There is no reading fee. Submissions received outside of these timeframes will roll over for consideration in the next reading period.
Please include a 100-word maximum author biography to be published alongside your work in the event of publication.
See our website (http://rathallareview.org/submit/) for more detailed submission guidelines.
We accept short stories or novel excerpts in varying lengths up to 4,000 words. We look for fiction that features sharp writing, carefully crafted plots, and, above all, compelling characters. Novel excerpts should be able to stand alone as a complete work.
Up to three poems may be submitted simultaneously. Please upload multiple poems in separate documents. Please only submit once, with each poem attached separately in the submission. Please indicate the titles in the title field. Give the titles and line counts for all poems in the appropriate fields of the submission form.
We are looking for pieces up to, but not exceeding, 999 words. We want
sharp pieces that display smart, poignant word choices and establish the
most complete idea within the limited space. Please include word count
in the document. You may submit up to three (3) flash pieces for
consideration in one single submission. Please do not submit 3 multiple times
to the category; instead please upload each story as a separate document to
one single submission. Submissions that do not follow this guideline will be rejected.
We accept essays or book excerpts in varying lengths up to 4,000 words. We look for nonfiction that features sharp writing and careful craft. Book excerpts should be able to stand alone as a complete work.
